The Barker Ornament Story

Barker Ornaments is a unique family business that is rich in history and holds a special place in the community of Oxford, Ohio. The family tradition of making wooden ornaments began in 1953 when Charles and Marjorie Barker made the first wooden Christmas ornaments for their children’s tree. Their son, Ralph Barker, joined his parents in 1974 as a partner designing and painting special pieces.

Although the founders, Charlie and Marge have passed on, Ralph proudly carries on the tradition of creating wooden ornaments with an emphasis on quality. Barker Ornaments operates at the family’s historic farm, the Brown Homestead, built in 1848. The ornament workshop is located on the property in a renovated 100 year old dairy barn. The Barker family has crafted hundreds of designs and adds new ornaments to the collection each year. Today Barker ornaments hang on Christmas trees all over the world, establishing traditions and creating memories.
